The software is a well-designed marvel, one of the few pieces of software Ive seen that Id call elegant. For a dollar or so I also bought Kates voice, to read long texts. Her pleasant, perky, silky British voice surpasses Apples choppy, nagging female voice by light years. I have but two quibbles with the program: first, in a list with (a) first item, and (b) second item , the program doesnt interpret correctly that its reading a list, and pronounces a like a, as in "a cat." Second, itd be nice to be able to clear text without quitting and restarting, which I dont see how to do. Itd also be nice if you could add to the abbreviation dictionary, so that e.g., reqd could be red as required.
Otherwise, this is a wonder for studying, making audio flash cards, making lectures for car travel, etc., (for which, combine with docstogo, another good program, better than Pages for editing Word docs on ipad). The ability to save audio and text and email both is awesome, allowing integration with ipod, iphone, itunes, or other mp3 players.
Really, these folks outdid themselves, and you should buy their software! Pay the trifle extra for the offline voice to allow longer text reads and youll be glad you did.
