Voice Reader Text to Speech App Reviews

The Best!

I use Voice Reader both ways: one, to listen to what other authors write; two, to listen to what I write. I dont use voice-2-text software--learning curve. I cant endure the sound of my own voice played back, so no voice recorders for me--if you heard my voice you would understand. I had thought of getting the latest basic Dragon and then have Olivia read it back to me. Im an Olivia fan. Overall: Great iPad app. Easy to use. Exactly the right amount of tools to personalize the app for the individual user.

Every student and professional should use this!

Perfect for busy people who have a lot to read. Copy text from any source into the app and it will clearly read to you while getting ready in the morning or during your drive. Keep in mind most pdf files can access the raw text, which can be copied into this app. Copy articles from the web you want to read but never have the time to get to. Most e- books that wont read to you will allow you to copy text. shazaam. I purchased the British voice, Kate, for next to nothing. Considering the cost of a college education and the busy-ness of live, this app is a must!!!

Excellent App

I love this App! I use it continuously on my iPad. It never glitches so I went ahead and invested and purchased an extra voice even though it comes with voices of its own that work perfectly. I am truly dedicated to this App and highly recommend it.

Voice Reader on iPad2

As a doctoral student that is very mobile this app has tripled my ability to stay up to date listening to converted PDF and text files while driving listening to audio, even motorcycling (AUX IN on audio-Goldwing). Thanks!!!

Mr

This particular app has been extremely helpful, I have to read so much! Listening as I read the text has been a very effective way of consuming information.

RIP OFF!!

You have to pay for the app then once its installed you have to pay again for an off-line voice. It does not work "right out-of-the-box" so to speak. Rip off!

Good app

Offline voice "Olivia" works well, however punctuation leaves a lot be desired. Often have to pause to read the actual sentence. Otherwise, its very helpful.

Text to speech

Very limited capabilities and very slow. Pauses for audio file download. Clunky - a waste of time and money

Pretty Good

A hair "buggy" every once in a while, but typically great. I use this program a ton for reading all of my pdfs.

Best text to speech

The voices are great. Purchasing an extra voice this requires for local processing text. At that point you can process a massive amount of text. And or convert to a file which you can email or save locally.

Very Useful!

I have a lot to read for school and the ability for PDF files to be read out loud is great! This is a great app. Very useful! Thanks developers!

Audio Guy

Excellent! Works Beautifully!

Stunningly Great, Insanely Great!

The software is a well-designed marvel, one of the few pieces of software Ive seen that Id call elegant. For a dollar or so I also bought Kates voice, to read long texts. Her pleasant, perky, silky British voice surpasses Apples choppy, nagging female voice by light years. I have but two quibbles with the program: first, in a list with (a) first item, and (b) second item , the program doesnt interpret correctly that its reading a list, and pronounces a like a, as in "a cat." Second, itd be nice to be able to clear text without quitting and restarting, which I dont see how to do. Itd also be nice if you could add to the abbreviation dictionary, so that e.g., reqd could be red as required. Otherwise, this is a wonder for studying, making audio flash cards, making lectures for car travel, etc., (for which, combine with docstogo, another good program, better than Pages for editing Word docs on ipad). The ability to save audio and text and email both is awesome, allowing integration with ipod, iphone, itunes, or other mp3 players. Really, these folks outdid themselves, and you should buy their software! Pay the trifle extra for the offline voice to allow longer text reads and youll be glad you did.

Crap

A Better thing to do with your two dollars is throw it right in the street. This app acts like it has so many voices, but when you get down to it theres really only one female American voice. Instantly trashable.

detroitwriter

This app is an excellent tool for listening to my documents as I edit along. This application is totally versatile, and makes a tremendous difference in the way I approach revising fiction, non-fiction, and business documents.

Very good

Pros- good voices, have dyslexia but am college professor so I need to convert text-to-speech daily and use this tool often. Cons- cant open word docs (have to cut and paste), difficult to navigate in text (have to use forward and backward arrows, cant touch screen)

Ok

Crashes every time with a large pdf file. Converted to text and still freezes/crashes. May be ok with small files.

Voice reading

This is waste if money.... I purchased it so it could read me the book. It only reads the introductory 2 pages, I cant shift to next page if anything...

Very EZ

Very easy to use, I really line it.

Kate is awesome

Really natural sounding! And you can controll the speed and such. I wish there was a voicereader app that would read my kindle books too...
